Summary

This study compared two serological tests for detecting SARS-CoV-2 antibodies in a group of 47 asymptomatic individuals in Nigeria. Blood samples were analyzed using ELISA and RDT to detect IgM and IgG antibodies. The results showed that ELISA had higher sensitivity and diagnostic accuracy than RDT. RDT performed better in terms of specificity. The study also found that ELISA detected more IgM antibodies, while RDT detected more IgG antibodies. Researchers suggested that combining both tests could improve screening effectiveness in populations. These findings may help guide the use of serological tests in low-resource settings where PCR testing is not widely available.
