Escherichia coli pyomyositis in a patient with Down syndrome: A case report

  • The child recovered fully after 3 weeks of intravenous antibiotics.

Implications:

  • This is the first reported pediatric case of Escherichia coli pyomyositis.
  • E. coli should be considered in empiric therapy for pediatric pyomyositis, particularly in children with comorbidities.
  • Early diagnosis and appropriate antibiotic selection are crucial for favorable outcomes.
