Nursing Implementation01:15

Nursing Implementation

5.6K
Implementation is the execution of the nursing care plan developed during the planning phase.
The five steps to implementing effective nursing care include reassessing the patient, reviewing and revising the existing nursing care plan, organizing the resources and care delivery, anticipating and preventing complications, and implementing nursing interventions.

Nursing Interventions II: Selecting and Classifying the Nursing Interventions

2.7K
Creating and executing a nursing diagnosis helps nurses plan care and guide patient, family, and community interventions. They are developed based on a patient's physical evaluation and support measuring the outcomes. It is not recommended to select random interventions throughout the planning process. Instead, consider the following six essential factors when choosing interventions:

Current Trends in Nursing II

1.6K
Trends in nursing are multifactorial and associated with changes in society, within the nursing profession, and in other professions. Notably, telehealth and remote nursing contribute to successful healthcare delivery for numerous patients and help reduce stress for nurses due to nursing shortages. Nurses can reach patients, monitor their conditions, and interact with them using computers, audio, visual accessories, and telephones—for example, remote patient monitoring systems. Likewise,...

The Scientific Method in Nursing Process

14.9K
The scientific method provides the foundation for any research. It is the most reliable and objective of all forms of gaining knowledge and guides in applying research-based evidence in practice and conducting future research.
When using research findings to change practice, one must understand the process used to guide a study. The scientific method is a systematic, step-by-step process that supports the data's validity, reliability, and generalizability. As a result, findings can be...

Fundamentals of Nursing Process II

4.4K
There are several characteristics related to delivering nursing care. One vital characteristic of the nursing process is that it can be used to protect nurses and justify the provided care. Productive use of the nursing process requires the knowledge and skills of nurses to assess and solve issues. Nurses should develop and strengthen their critical thinking skills and evidence-based nursing interventions to improve their skills in formulating nursing care plans. A well-defined approach to...

Summary

Nurse practitioners (NPs) value evidence-based practice (EBP) but implement it at low levels due to barriers like lack of time and collaborative issues. Further research into interprofessional collaboration is needed to improve EBP integration.

Area of Science:

  • Nursing
  • Healthcare Management
  • Clinical Practice

Background:

  • Evidence-based practice (EBP) is crucial for high-quality, cost-effective healthcare.
  • Nurse practitioners (NPs) play a key leadership role in implementing EBP across patient groups and embedding practice changes.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To explore factors influencing EBP implementation by NPs in routine care.
  • To examine NP beliefs, EBP implementation levels, and associated barriers and enablers.

Main Methods:

  • A scoping review was conducted using the Arksey and O'Malley framework.
  • Searched CINAHL, Medline, and PsycINFO (2009-2018), including gray literature and reference lists.
  • Data extraction and synthesis followed predefined eligibility criteria.

Main Results:

  • Seven studies were included, showing NPs value EBP but implement it at low levels.
  • Common barriers include lack of time, EBP competence, support, and resources.
  • Collaborative practice issues, physician-driven practice, and professional boundaries were identified barriers; supportive relationships and confidence were facilitators.

Conclusions:

  • NPs face challenges in EBP implementation, particularly concerning interprofessional collaboration.
  • Further exploration of NP experiences with interprofessional collaboration is needed to identify support requirements for effective EBP integration.
