Summary

Palliative emergency gastrointestinal surgery has high mortality and morbidity. The American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) score and the American College of Surgeons National Surgical Quality Improvement Program Surgical Risk Calculator (ACS NSQIP SRC) can predict mortality in these patients.
