Abstract:
In overdenture therapy using attachments, near-perfect alignment is mandatory for the success of the procedure. A good example of failure due to mis-alignment is seen in Fig. 5. This resulted in the eventual breakdown of the periodontium and the extraction of the root remnant upon removal of the denture. The application of semiprecision attachments in overdenture therapy may greatly enhance the success of the denture. However, care must be taken to adhere to the principles and philosophies of complete denture therapy.
