Area of Science:

  • Orthodontics
  • Dental Implantology

Background:

  • Gummy smile and deep bite present esthetic challenges.
  • Relapsed orthodontic cases require effective treatment strategies.
  • Non-surgical correction methods are highly desirable.

Observation:

  • A relapsed patient with gummy smile and deep bite was treated.
  • Mini-implants were utilized for orthodontic anchorage.
  • Maxillary arch intrusion was the primary treatment mechanism.

Findings:

  • Significant reduction in gingival display was achieved.
  • Ideal overbite and overjet were established.
  • Improved smile esthetics were noted post-treatment.

Implications:

  • Mini-implants offer a viable non-surgical solution for gummy smile.
  • This approach enhances smile aesthetics and functional occlusion.
  • Minimally invasive techniques are effective in managing complex orthodontic relapses.
