Abstract:
A beryllium containment device suitable for wide angle x-ray scattering experiments with highly radioactive amorphous samples and conforming to safety regulations at synchrotron x-ray radiation sources is presented. The container is made of three concentric tubes closed at one end with threaded caps. The final device looks like Russian nesting dolls. The container was tested with a Cm-doped borosilicate glass, in transmission mode and normal conditions. The strength and weakness of the obtained results are discussed.
