    • To identify research types, patient characteristics, and successful interventions for RTW.
    • To explore the roles of healthcare professionals in facilitating RTW.

    Main Methods:

    • A scoping review of 48 studies (1998-2018).
    • Data extraction by two authors using a customized tool.
    • Narrative synthesis and tabular data collation.

    Main Results:

    • Few interventions specifically targeted RTW.
    • Most interventions were delivered by rehabilitation professionals.
    • Nursing contributions to RTW interventions were largely absent.

    Conclusions:

    • RTW post-stroke lacks consistent operationalization in research.
