Summary
Transversus abdominis muscle release (TAR) is a novel posterior component separation technique for complex ventral hernia repair. This myofascial release allows for primary defect closure and mesh ingrowth, proving beneficial in challenging cases.
Area of Science:
- Abdominal wall reconstruction
- Surgical innovation
- Hernia surgery
Background:
- Complex ventral hernias present significant challenges for primary defect closure.
- Traditional repair methods often struggle with large or recurrent defects.
