Appendicitis following colonoscopy is a rare but serious complication. Prompt diagnosis and surgical intervention, such as appendectomy, are crucial for patient outcomes.

Background:

Colonoscopy is a common screening procedure.
Appendicitis is a rare post-procedural complication.

Observation:

A 56-year-old female presented with abdominal pain and nausea 8 hours after a colonoscopy.
Physical examination revealed tenderness at McBurney point and a positive Rovsing's sign.
Laboratory results showed elevated white blood cells and neutrophils, with normal C-reactive protein.

Findings:

The patient was diagnosed with acute appendicitis, confirmed by ultrasound.
Laparoscopic appendectomy was successfully performed.

Implications:

Post-colonoscopy appendicitis requires early recognition to prevent severe outcomes.
Informing patients about this potential complication during informed consent is recommended.
