Abstract:
Retraction: "Inhibitory role of large intergenic noncoding RNA-ROR on tamoxifen resistance in the endocrine therapy of breast cancer by regulating the PI3K/Akt/mTOR signaling pathway," by Peng-Wei Lu, Lin Li, Fang Wang, Yuan-Ting Gu, J Cell Physiol. 2019; 1904-1912: The above article, published online on 26 August 2018 in Wiley Online Library (https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.1002/jcp.27066), has been retracted by agreement between the journal's Editor in Chief, Prof. Dr. Gregg Fields, and Wiley Periodicals LLC. The retraction has been agreed following an investigation based on allegations raised by a third party. Several flaws and inconsistencies between results presented and experimental methods described were found. Thus, the editors consider the conclusions of this article to be invalid.
Insights
This study on breast cancer treatment has been retracted due to significant flaws. The findings regarding large intergenic noncoding RNA-ROR and tamoxifen resistance are now considered invalid.
Area of Science:
- Oncology
- Molecular Biology
- Genetics
Context:
- Endocrine therapy is a cornerstone in breast cancer treatment.
- Tamoxifen resistance remains a significant clinical challenge, limiting treatment efficacy.
- Large intergenic noncoding RNAs (lincRNAs) are emerging as critical regulators in cancer progression and drug resistance.
Purpose:
- To investigate the inhibitory role of large intergenic noncoding RNA-ROR (lincRNA-ROR) in tamoxifen resistance in breast cancer.
- To explore the potential mechanism involving the PI3K/Akt/mTOR signaling pathway.
Summary:
- The article investigated the role of lincRNA-ROR in tamoxifen resistance in breast cancer.
- It proposed that lincRNA-ROR regulates the PI3K/Akt/mTOR pathway to influence resistance.
- However, the study has been retracted due to identified flaws and inconsistencies.
Impact:
- The retraction invalidates the previously reported findings on lincRNA-ROR and tamoxifen resistance.
- This highlights the importance of rigorous scientific validation and reproducibility.
- Further research is needed to clarify the role of lincRNAs in breast cancer endocrine therapy resistance.

Somatic Spinal Reflexes
One of the most well-known somatic spinal reflexes is the stretch reflex, which is activated by the sudden stretching of a muscle. This reflex involves the activation of specialized sensory receptors called muscle spindles, which are located in the muscle tissue and detect changes in the length and speed of muscle contractions. When a muscle is suddenly...

Relaxation of Skeletal Muscles
When an action potential reaches the axon terminal, it depolarizes the membrane and opens voltage-gated sodium channels. Sodium ions enter the cell, further depolarizing the presynaptic membrane. This depolarization causes voltage-gated calcium channels to open....
