A novel frog protein complex, βγ-crystallin fused aerolysin-like protein and trefoil factor complex (βγ-CAT), blocks enveloped virus entry by forming pores in the viral envelope. This discovery reveals a new antiviral mechanism and potential therapeutic strategy against herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1).
