Background:

Integrating resident feedback into existing surgical quality registries is crucial for enhancing surgical training.
Developing effective modules for capturing operative data is essential for performance assessment.

Purpose of the Study:

To describe the development and implementation of a registry-based module for capturing resident operative feedback.
To assess faculty engagement with the new surgical education module during its initial year.

Main Methods:

A surgical education module was embedded within an institutional quality collaborative registry.
Operative data and resident assessments were captured via the module from February 2019 to February 2020.
Faculty engagement rates and the number of assessments per resident were analyzed.

Main Results:

85% (1074 of 1269) of operative assessments were completed by 27 faculty members.
The median faculty engagement rate was 91% for resident-assisted procedures.
Residents received a median of 7 operative assessments during the study period.

Conclusions:

Embedding a surgical education module into a quality registry facilitates routine capture of procedure-specific operative assessments.
This approach offers a scalable method for collecting valuable feedback in surgical residency programs.
The high completion rate indicates successful integration and faculty acceptance of the module.
