Purpose of the Study:

To investigate the association between occupational workloads and presenteeism in nursing professionals.
To analyze how different types of workloads relate to presenteeism indicators in university hospitals.

Main Methods:

A quantitative, cross-sectional study was conducted with 355 nursing workers in Southern Brazil.
Data collection utilized the Workload Scale in Nursing Activities and the Work Limitations Questionnaire.
Statistical analyses included descriptive statistics, variance analysis, and Pearson's correlation test.

Main Results:

Significant correlations were found between chemical/biological loads and time management.
Physical demands were linked to productivity loss, while physiological loads related to mental, interpersonal, and production demands.
Psychological loads showed a correlation with production demand, indicating broader impacts on nursing work.

Conclusions:

A clear relationship exists between occupational workloads and presenteeism among nursing staff.
Workloads contribute to limitations in functioning and loss of productivity within the nursing profession.
Findings underscore the need for interventions to mitigate workload-related presenteeism in hospitals.
