When Titans become weak: penile prosthesis cylinder aneurysm, a case report

Background:

Observation:

• A 62-year-old patient developed a penile bulge and incomplete prosthesis deflation post-implantation of a Coloplast Titan device and corporoplasty.
• The bulge was attributed to an aneurysm of the right penile prosthesis cylinder.
• This complication prevented complete deflation of the penile implant.

Findings:

• Reoperation revealed an aneurysm of the right cylinder of the Coloplast Titan prosthesis.
• The prosthetic cylinders were replaced during the corrective surgery.
• Surgical correction involved plication of the redundant tunica albuginea and repair of a septal defect from within the corpora cavernosa.

Implications:

• This case underscores the importance of recognizing rare complications associated with penile implants, even in low-incidence scenarios.
• Aneurysm formation is a potential, albeit uncommon, complication that requires prompt diagnosis and surgical intervention.
• Successful management involved prosthesis revision and concurrent anatomical correction, preserving function and addressing the complication.
