    Summary

    Chest physiotherapy did not significantly alter oxygen levels (PaO2) in mechanically ventilated patients. However, chest X-rays showed improvement in many patients, particularly with atelectasis.

    Background:

    • Mechanical ventilation with positive end-expiratory pressure (PEEP) is a common critical care intervention.
    • Chest physiotherapy is frequently used in conjunction with mechanical ventilation to improve lung function.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To evaluate the impact of chest physiotherapy on arterial oxygen tension (PaO2) in patients receiving mechanical ventilation with PEEP.
    • To assess radiological changes following chest physiotherapy in this patient population.

    Main Methods:

    • A prospective study involving 47 patients undergoing mechanical ventilation with PEEP.
    • PaO2 measurements were taken before and after chest physiotherapy.
