Abstract:
Pigmented villonodular synovitis is an unusual cause of monoarticular symptoms in young adults. This report describes the ability of computed tomography to accurately demonstrate the lesions of pigmented villonodular synovitis affecting the hip joint when conventional methods are equivocal. The diagnosis is thereby facilitated allowing appropriate management, including biopsy and surgery, to be undertaken.
