[Biosynthesis of mitochondrial proteins in adrenalectomized rats: the effect of hydrocortisone]
Abstract:
A study was made of the biosynthesis of mitochondrial and cytoplasmic proteins in adrenalectomized rat liver. Hydrocortisone enhanced the biosynthesis of different groups of mitochondrial and cytoplasmic proteins biphasically at the 15th and 180th min. after hormone administration, the first phase being short-term and more pronounced than the second one. Hydrocortisone administration caused synchronous and unidirectional change in the intensity of the biosynthesis of proteins of the matrix, intermembranous space, outer and inner mitochondrial membrane as well as mitochondrial proteins synthesized on mitochondrial and cytoplasmic polysomes.
