  • Meta-analysis revealed differential expression of interleukin-1 beta (IL1B) and integrin-linked kinase (ILK).
  • Pathway analysis highlighted enrichment of toll-like receptor (TLR) and interleukin-1 receptor genes involved in innate immunity.
  • Four gene modules associated with PTSD were identified, two also linked to MDD, indicating shared pathways. Four genes (UBA7, HLA-F, HSPA1B, RERE) showed potential shared causal eQTLs with PTSD/MDD GWAS variants.

Conclusions:

  • This study provides evidence for previously reported genes and pathways in PTSD and identifies novel candidates.
  • Findings suggest a significant role for innate immune response pathways in PTSD.
  • Identified shared genetic factors and pleiotropy between PTSD and MDD offer insights into their complex relationship.
