Purpose of the Study:

  • To examine the association between occupational class and the prognosis of ischemic stroke patients in China.
  • To compare cardiovascular events and all-cause mortality rates across different occupational classes post-stroke.

Main Methods:

  • A prospective cohort study (IIPAIS) included 1484 ischemic stroke patients.
  • Occupational classes were categorized as white-collar, blue-collar, and farmers.
  • Cox proportional hazard models analyzed associations between occupational class and 12-month outcomes (cardiovascular events, all-cause mortality).

  • Within 12 months, 7.5% experienced cardiovascular events and 4.9% died.

  • No significant differences in outcomes were observed for blue-collar workers relative to white-collar workers.
  • Occupational class is a significant factor influencing ischemic stroke prognosis in the Chinese population.
