[Use of the medical glue MK-14i in emergency surgery and endoscopy]
Abstract:
Results of the application of medical glue MK-141 for treatment of patients with acute chemical lesions of the esophagus (140 cases), with tracheobronchial fistulas (18 cases) and with using the endoscopic technique are presented. The glue was used for hermetization of sutures in patients with trauma of organs of the chest and abdomen as well as for hemostasis in patients with trauma of parenchimatous organs. In all the cases positive effects were obtained. In treatment of patients with chemical burns of the esophagus the amount of postburn stenoses and bleedings was decreased. The time of wound healing grew shorter.
Insights
Medical glue MK-141 effectively treats chemical esophageal lesions and tracheobronchial fistulas, reducing complications and healing time. This innovative endoscopic application shows positive outcomes in various surgical scenarios.
Area of Science:
- Surgical Innovation
- Medical Adhesives
- Endoscopic Procedures
Context:
- Acute chemical lesions of the esophagus present significant treatment challenges.
- Tracheobronchial fistulas require advanced sealing techniques for effective management.
- Trauma to thoracic and abdominal organs necessitates reliable methods for suture hermetization and hemostasis.
Purpose:
- To evaluate the efficacy of medical glue MK-141 in treating acute chemical esophageal lesions.
- To assess the application of medical glue MK-141 for managing tracheobronchial fistulas.
- To determine the utility of MK-141 in suture hermetization and hemostasis for trauma patients.
Summary:
- Medical glue MK-141 was applied in 140 cases of chemical esophageal lesions and 18 cases of tracheobronchial fistulas using endoscopic techniques.
- The glue facilitated suture hermetization in thoracic and abdominal trauma and provided hemostasis in parenchymal organ trauma.
- Positive outcomes were observed across all applications, including reduced postburn stenoses and bleeding in esophageal cases, and accelerated wound healing.
Impact:
- Demonstrates a significant reduction in complications such as stenosis and bleeding following chemical esophageal burns.
- Shortens the overall wound healing time in patients treated with medical glue MK-141.
- Highlights the versatility of MK-141 as an endoscopic tool for various surgical interventions and trauma management.
