Background:

Mixed reality (MR) is emerging as a novel tool for nursing simulation.
There is a limited body of research evaluating the effectiveness and application of MR in nursing education.
This scoping review addresses the need for a comprehensive analysis of existing MR nursing simulation studies.

Purpose of the Study:

To conduct a scoping review of mixed reality nursing simulations.
To identify and analyze trends in the use and evaluation of MR technology in nursing education.
To suggest future directions for MR in nursing simulation based on current research.

Main Methods:

A scoping review methodology based on Arksey and O'Malley's framework was employed.
Studies were systematically searched across multiple databases: DBpia, RISS, PubMed, CINAHL, and Google Scholar.
Data extraction focused on publication characteristics, simulation details, device usage, and evaluation outcomes from 10 selected studies.

Main Results:

Ten studies met the inclusion criteria for the review.
Auditory and haptic senses, alongside visual information, were predominantly utilized in MR nursing simulations.
Knowledge acquisition was the most frequently assessed outcome, followed by clinical performance and user satisfaction.

Conclusions:

This review highlights current trends and research gaps in mixed reality nursing simulations.
Findings suggest directions for integrating MR technology into nursing education effectively.
Further research is essential for developing effective MR scenarios and rigorously evaluating their impact on nursing education.
