[Chronic subdural hematoma simulating the clinical course of acute cerebrovascular disease]

Among 92 patients with chronic subdural haematomas operated on in the Department of Neurosurgery, Medical Academy of Lódź eleven mimicked acute cerebrovascular disease-haemorrhagic stroke with subarachnoid haemorrhage in 6 and ischaemic stroke in 5. The authors discuss possible mechanisms of such unusual clinical presentation and stress the importance of neuroradiological procedures, especially CT-scan in all cases with initial diagnosis of acute cerebrovascular disease.
