Psychoactive substance use in Portugal is common, with alcohol, tobacco, and xanthines frequently consumed, primarily for social reasons. Men tend to use alcohol, tobacco, and illicit drugs more, while women use anxiolytics, with young adults favoring alcohol and xanthines.
