Background:

  • Persistent public health challenges necessitate immunization training for pharmacy students.
  • Curtin University integrated blended-delivery immunization training into Bachelor and Master of Pharmacy curricula in 2019-2020.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To evaluate changes in pharmacy students' attitudes, confidence, self-perceived knowledge, and skills post-immunization training.
  • Assess the impact of a blended-delivery immunization training program on final-year pharmacy students.

Main Methods:

  • Utilized pre- and post-training questionnaires with 42 Likert scale opinion statements.
  • Matched 128-132 student responses using respondent-generated codes.
  • Applied descriptive and multivariate regression analysis to assess pre-post changes.

Main Results:

  • Significant improvements observed in mean scores for Confidence (3.33 to 3.96), Self-Perceived Knowledge (3.08 to 4.47), and Self-Perceived Skills (2.81 to 4.55).
  • Attitude scores also improved significantly (4.45 to 4.61), though pre-training scores were already high.
  • All students rated the training as Excellent (91.6%) or Good (8.4%), reporting increased attitude, confidence, knowledge, and skills.

Conclusions:

  • Integrated immunization training significantly enhanced pharmacy students' attitudes, confidence, knowledge, and skills.
  • The blended-delivery method is effective and recommended for other pharmacy schools to assess immunization training impact.
