Insights
This study analyzed coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) trends in Japan for 2018, detailing graft types and diseased vessels. It offers insights into short-term clinical outcomes for CABG patients.
Area of Science:
- Cardiovascular Surgery
- Surgical Outcomes Research
Background:
- Coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) is a critical intervention for ischemic heart disease.
- Understanding national trends in CABG procedures is essential for healthcare planning and quality improvement.
Purpose of the Study:
- To analyze the global features of graft types and the number of diseased vessels in patients undergoing CABG.
- To evaluate the short-term clinical results associated with CABG procedures in Japan.
Main Methods:
- Data collected from the Japan Adult Cardiovascular Surgery Database (JCVSD) for the year 2018.
- Utilized questionnaires administered by The Japanese Association for Coronary Artery Surgery (JACAS).
- Included analysis of clinical results for acute myocardial infarction and ischemic mitral regurgitation surgeries.
Main Results:
- Presents the collective data on CABG procedures performed in Japan during 2018.
- Details the number and types of grafts used and the number of diseased vessels encountered.
- Provides descriptive clinical outcomes for specific patient cohorts.
Conclusions:
- This manuscript is the first to summarize annual JACAS questionnaire results based on JCVSD data.
- Highlights trends in CABG procedures and clinical outcomes in Japan.
- Establishes a benchmark for future CABG outcome research in the region.
Purpose:
The principal of this analysis was to understand global feature of the number and type of grafts and number of diseased vessels of those undergoing coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) and their short-term clinical results.
Methods And Results:
This report presents annual report on the collective data of CABG in the year 2018 (1 January-31 December). Data were collected based on the series of questionnaire which has been performed by The Japanese Association for Coronary Artery Surgery (JACAS), capturing the corresponding data from the Japan Adult Cardiovascular Surgery Database (JCVSD). We also analyzed descriptive clinical results of those undergoing surgeries for acute myocardial infarction and ischemic mitral regurgitation.
Conclusion:
This is the first article summarizing the results from annually performed questionnaires by JACAS based on JCVSD, on the trend of CABG procedures and clinical results in Japan as a scientific manuscript.
