    Area of Science:

    • Immunology
    • Clinical Chemistry

    Background:

    • Total immunoglobulin E (IgE) levels are crucial biomarkers in diagnosing allergic diseases.
    • Accurate and reproducible measurement of total IgE is essential for effective patient management.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To evaluate the ImmunoComb assay for quantifying total IgE in serum or plasma.
    • To compare the performance of ImmunoComb with the established PRIST method.
    • To assess the reproducibility of the ImmunoComb assay.

    Main Methods:

    • ImmunoComb, a solid-phase in vitro immunological test, was utilized for total IgE measurement.
    • Assay performance was compared against the Protein-Specific Immunoassay (PRIST) method.
    • Reproducibility was assessed using test serum dilutions on complete and sectioned plates.

    Main Results:

    • ImmunoComb provides an exact total IgE titre.
    • The assay demonstrated good reproducibility across different plate configurations.
    • Utilizing a photometer significantly enhanced the sensitivity of result assessment.

    Conclusions:

    • ImmunoComb is a reliable colorimetric method for accurate total IgE measurement.
    • The assay offers good reproducibility, making it suitable for clinical use.
    • Photometer-assisted reading improves the sensitivity and clinical utility of the ImmunoComb test.
