Imipenem-cilastatin therapy for appendicitis with perforation or gangrene showed effectiveness, with fewer fever and hospitalization days compared to clindamycin-gentamicin. This broad-spectrum antibiotic is a viable adjunct to surgery for complicated appendicitis.
