Fatty Pancreas Is Independently Associated With Subsequent Diabetes Mellitus Development: A 10-Year Prospective

Fatty pancreas is linked to a higher risk of developing diabetes mellitus (DM). Increased pancreatic fat content independently predicts future DM diagnosis, highlighting its metabolic significance.

- Fatty pancreas is an independent predictor of subsequent diabetes mellitus development.
- No independent association was found between fatty pancreas and hypertension or dyslipidemia in this cohort.
- Combined fatty liver and pancreas showed the highest DM incidence, suggesting synergistic effects.
