Relationship between heart rate recovery index and erectile dysfunction

Reduced heart rate recovery (HRR) is linked to erectile dysfunction (ED). This study found a significant correlation between lower HRR index values and poorer erectile function scores in men.

- No significant differences in risk factors (age, BMI, hypertension, smoking) were found between groups.
- Patients with abnormal HRR had significantly lower IIEF-5 scores (11.2±4.2 vs. 20.3±4.6, p<0.001).
- A strong positive correlation (r=0.702, p<0.001) was observed between IIEF-5 scores and HRR index. Diabetes mellitus and low HRR index were independent risk factors for lower IIEF-5 scores.
Conclusions:
- The HRR index is a potential independent predictor of ED.
- Reduced HRR is associated with ANS dysfunction and cardiovascular mortality, suggesting a link to ED.
