Summary

Isolated myeloid sarcoma (MS), a rare tumor of myeloid cells, can occur without acute myeloid leukemia (AML). This case highlights a successful treatment outcome in a patient with primary MS presenting as obstructive jaundice.

Background:

Myeloid sarcoma (MS) is a rare extramedullary tumor of myeloid precursors.
It is often associated with acute myeloid leukemia (AML) but can present as primary or isolated MS.

Observation:

A previously healthy 36-year-old male presented with new-onset painful obstructive jaundice.
Diagnostic investigations confirmed the diagnosis of isolated myeloid sarcoma.

Findings:

The patient received treatment for isolated myeloid sarcoma.
A favorable response to treatment was observed, with the patient remaining well.

Implications:

This case underscores the importance of considering isolated MS in the differential diagnosis of obstructive jaundice.
Early diagnosis and appropriate treatment can lead to favorable outcomes in primary myeloid sarcoma.
