US-guided procedures have an essential role in the diagnosis and treatment of multiple obstetric and gynecologic conditions, can be performed with either transvaginal or transabdominal approaches, and include biopsy of masses, aspiration of fluid collections, injection of therapeutic materials, and saline-infused sonohysterography and hysterosalpingo contrast-enhanced sonography.
