Summary

Bone Morphogenetic Protein 7 (BMP7) reduces the fibrocartilage chondrocyte phenotype in osteoarthritis by decreasing collagen type I and inhibiting fibrosis pathways. BMP7 may offer a dual therapeutic approach for osteoarthritis by targeting both hypertrophic and fibrotic chondrocyte phenotypes.
