Estimation of the post-mortem interval in human bones by infrared spectroscopy

Forensic anthropologists can now better estimate the post-mortem interval (PMI) using bone mineral analysis. Changes in bone crystallinity and carbonate content, measured by FTIR-ATR, correlate with PMI, especially in females.
