  • Individualised physiotherapy is a recognized effective treatment for LBP.
  • The precise mechanisms through which individualised physiotherapy exerts its effects remain incompletely understood.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To elucidate the working mechanisms of individualised physiotherapy for low back pain.
  • To develop a Bayesian Network model using data from a randomised controlled trial (RCT).
  • To identify direct and indirect recovery pathways in LBP patients receiving individualised physiotherapy.

Main Methods:

  • A multivariate Bayesian Network model was constructed using RCT data.
  • The model incorporated 300 participants with LBP (duration 6-26 weeks) comparing individualised physiotherapy to advice.
  • Analysis distinguished between early changes (0-10 weeks) and late changes (10-52 weeks).

  • Individualised physiotherapy directly reduced early disability in LBP patients.
