    Summary

    Mitoxantrone chemotherapy showed minimal cardiotoxicity in patients, with no significant changes in electrocardiogram (ECG) parameters. This anthracycline drug appears safer for the heart compared to adriamycin.

    Background:

    • Cardiotoxicity is a significant concern with certain chemotherapy agents.
    • Mitoxantrone and Adriamycin are commonly used anticancer drugs with potential cardiac side effects.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To evaluate the cardiotoxicity of mitoxantrone in patients undergoing chemotherapy.
    • To compare the cardiac safety profile of mitoxantrone with that of adriamycin.

    Main Methods:

    • Serial electrocardiograms (ECGs) were recorded for 50 patients receiving mitoxantrone.
    • Holter ECGs were used to analyze acute cardiotoxicity in patients treated with mitoxantrone and adriamycin.
