Abstract:
Sulphonamide antibiotics are a commonly used, and important, group of antibiotics in veterinary dermatology. However, many of the commonly used sulphonamides such as sulphamethoxazole, sulpha-diazine, or sulphasalazine are associated with idiosyncratic drug reactions in dogs. This paper will review the clinical syndromes, pathogenesis of sulphonamide hypersensitivity reactions and current methods for predicting these occurrences.
