Summary

Robot-assisted radical cystectomy (RARC) rates are low in Asia. Intracorporeal urinary diversion during RARC may reduce bleeding and hospital stays compared to extracorporeal methods.

Background:

Robot-assisted radical cystectomy (RARC) adoption varies globally, with lower rates observed in Asia.
Urinary diversion techniques (intracorporeal vs. extracorporeal) are critical components of RARC.

Purpose of the Study:

To highlight the low adoption of RARC in Asia.
To compare the outcomes of intracorporeal versus extracorporeal urinary diversion in RARC.

Main Methods:

Literature review on RARC adoption rates in Asia.
Comparative analysis of studies reporting on intracorporeal and extracorporeal urinary diversion during RARC.

Main Results:

Robot-assisted radical cystectomy (RARC) utilization is significantly lower in Asian countries compared to other continents.
Preliminary evidence suggests that RARC with intracorporeal urinary diversion is associated with reduced intraoperative bleeding and shorter hospital stays when compared to extracorporeal urinary diversion.

Conclusions:

Further research and adoption initiatives are needed to increase RARC rates in Asia.
Intracorporeal urinary diversion appears to be a potentially advantageous technique in RARC, warranting further investigation.
