Summary

A rare retinal pigment epithelial tear occurred in a patient with peripheral exudative hemorrhagic chorioretinopathy (PEHCR). This vision-threatening macular complication necessitates careful prognostication for patients with PEHCR.

  • Angiography confirmed bilateral polyps, and OCT showed a scrolled RPE tear with exposed Bruch's membrane, without underlying pigment epithelial detachment.

Findings:

  • The case demonstrates a unique presentation of a retinal pigment epithelial tear associated with PEHCR.
  • Optical coherence tomography provided detailed cross-sectional imaging of the RPE tear morphology.
  • The absence of pigment epithelial detachment was noted in this specific case.
