Indo-Pacific Walker circulation drove Pleistocene African aridification

The Pacific Walker circulation intensified around 2.1 million years ago, driving aridification in Africa. This intensified circulation, recorded in ocean flow, led to drier conditions punctuated by humid interglacial periods.
