    Summary

    Aclacinomycin A (ACLA-A) showed no therapeutic efficacy in advanced soft tissue sarcomas. The anthracycline antibiotic caused significant myelosuppression, leading to dose reduction without improving patient outcomes.

    Background:

    • Soft tissue sarcomas are challenging cancers.
    • Anthracycline antibiotics are used in cancer treatment.
    • Aclacinomycin A (ACLA-A) is an anthracycline antibiotic.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To evaluate the efficacy and toxicity of Aclacinomycin A (ACLA-A) in patients with advanced soft tissue sarcomas.
    • To determine the optimal dosing schedule for ACLA-A in this patient population.

    Main Methods:

    • Phase II clinical study.
    • 20 patients with advanced, measurable soft tissue sarcomas.
    • Administered intravenous ACLA-A weekly for 4 weeks, followed by a 2-week rest.
    • Initial dose of 85 mg/m2 reduced to 65 mg/m2 due to myelosuppression.
