    Summary

    This study found that shorter birth length and premature birth are associated with an increased risk of osteosarcoma in young individuals. Other risk factors include prior trauma and maternal occupational exposures.

    Background:

    • Osteosarcoma is a primary bone cancer predominantly affecting children and young adults.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To investigate potential risk factors associated with osteosarcoma in young individuals.
    • To analyze the relationship between anthropometric measurements, birth characteristics, and osteosarcoma occurrence.

    • A case-control study involving 64 osteosarcoma cases and 124 controls.
    • Data collection included maternal telephone interviews and review of medical/school records for height and birth information.

    • No significant differences in height or growth rates were observed between cases and controls.
