Primary Clear Cell Sarcoma of the Lung: a Case Report

- Clear Cell Sarcoma of Soft Tissue (CCSST), also known as melanoma of the soft part, is a rare and aggressive tumor typically found in the extremities.
- Primary CCSST in the lung is exceptionally rare, posing diagnostic challenges.
Observation:
- A 24-year-old male presented with left-sided chest pain, cough, and dyspnea.
- Imaging revealed a large central left-sided lung mass, initially suspected to be benign.
Findings:
- Histopathological examination and immunohistochemical staining (S-100, HMB-45, Melan-A positive) confirmed CCSST.
- FISH analysis revealed EWSR1 gene rearrangements, supporting a primary lung origin in the major fissure.
Implications:
- This case highlights the importance of considering rare diagnoses like CCSST in lung masses, even with initially benign-appearing imaging.
- Comprehensive diagnostic workup including histology, immunohistochemistry, and cytogenetics is crucial for accurate diagnosis and management of rare tumors.
