Area of Science:

  • Orthopedic surgery
  • Sports medicine
  • Biomechanical engineering

Background:

  • Acromioclavicular (AC) joint injuries present a significant clinical challenge.
  • Current surgical techniques for AC joint reconstruction lack a universally agreed-upon optimal method.
  • Hardware-related complications, such as pain, are a concern with existing arthroscopic approaches.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To detail a preferred surgical technique for AC joint reconstruction.
  • To introduce a novel approach utilizing a recessed clavicular implant.
  • To incorporate a semitendinosus allograft to address hardware pain.

Main Methods:

  • Description of a specific surgical technique for AC joint reconstruction.
  • Utilizing a recessed clavicular implant to minimize prominence.
