    • A follow-up study compared three treatment methods in 59 patients with atlanto-axial instability.
    • Treatments included plaster jacket/brace, midline wiring/bone grafts, and Brooks fusion with circumferential wires and bone grafts.

    Findings:

    • The Brooks fusion technique demonstrated a distinctly higher incidence of solid fusion.
    • This improved fusion rate was observed despite less postoperative immobilization compared to other methods.

    Implications:

    • The Brooks fusion method may offer a more effective surgical approach for atlanto-axial instability.
    • Further research could validate these findings and refine treatment protocols for spinal stability.
