Practice Challenges for Federally Qualified Health Centers During the COVID-19 Pandemic
Abstract:
Although the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has had unprecedented influence on practitioners and patients across all practice settings, Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs) have faced unique challenges. As pediatricians in two large FQHCs in the city of Chicago, the authors saw firsthand how patients and their families were disproportionately affected by COVID-19. In this article, they reflect on some of the most significant issues encountered during the pandemic. Using illustrative cases drawn from clinical practice, this article sheds light on the challenges faced by pediatricians who work in FQHCs. [.
