Background:

  • Incidental prostate cancer (PCa) is often discovered during surgery for other conditions.
  • Understanding the characteristics and outcomes of incidental PCa is important for patient management.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To investigate the clinicopathological features and prognosis of incidental prostate cancer (PCa).

Main Methods:

  • Retrospective analysis of clinical and pathological data from 580 patients undergoing radical cystectomy.
  • Included 96 cases of incidental PCa with follow-up for prognostic evaluation.

Main Results:

  • Incidental PCa detected in 16.6% of patients, predominantly in those over 60 years old.
  • Most incidental PCa cases were low-grade (Gleason score ≤ 6), with only 33.3% considered clinically significant.
  • Survival analysis showed no significant difference in prognosis between clinically significant and non-significant incidental PCa cases.
