Gastric teratoma with gastrointestinal bleeding

• The patient presented with significant gastrointestinal (GI) bleeding attributed to the tumor.

Findings:

• Endophytic gastric teratoma subtype is associated with gastrointestinal bleeding.
• Benign nature of gastric teratomas is confirmed, irrespective of patient age, tumor appearance, or bleeding presence.
• Simple excision is the recommended and satisfactory treatment modality.

Implications:

• Clinical presentation, including GI bleeding, does not indicate malignancy in gastric teratomas.
• Early diagnosis and surgical management ensure favorable outcomes for pediatric patients.
• This review reinforces the importance of conservative management for benign gastric teratomas.
