Right-sided paraduodenal hernia with malrotation - A case report

Right-sided paraduodenal hernia, a rare internal hernia, can cause abdominal pain and vomiting due to small bowel herniation. Surgical repair is necessary due to the risk of strangulation and obstruction.

- A 36-year-old male presented with chronic abdominal fullness, upper abdominal pain, and recurrent vomiting.
- Abdominal CT scan suggested a right-sided paraduodenal hernia.
Findings:
- Surgical exploration confirmed a right-sided paraduodenal hernia.
- The patient underwent successful hernia repair and was discharged without complications.
Implications:
- Paraduodenal hernias often present with non-specific symptoms, leading to delayed diagnosis.
- These hernias carry a significant risk of strangulation and bowel obstruction, necessitating surgical intervention.
- Optimal surgical techniques for paraduodenal hernia repair require further investigation.
