Immunological evaluation after splenectomy for hairy cell leukemia--a case report

Summary
Splenectomy can improve immune function in patients with hairy cell leukemia (HCL). This study shows improved T cell subsets and lymphocyte response after spleen removal in an HCL patient.

- Splenectomy may lead to significant immunological recovery in HCL patients.
- This suggests a potential benefit of splenectomy in restoring immune competence in HCL.
- Long-term immunological improvement was observed one year post-surgery.
